Man spends $2,900 on massive 'Braveheart' tattoo
TILLICOULTRY , Scotland, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- A Scottish fan of the film Braveheart spent more than $2,900 to have the faces of Mel Gibson and three other stars tattooed on his leg.
Paul Hunter, 33, of Tillicoultry said he had the face of Gibson as William Wallace, the titular character of the 1995 film, tattooed on his leg in February and he followed it up with tattoos of Wallace's sidekicks Stephen, Hamish and Elder Campbell -- respectively played by David O'Hara, Brendan Gleeson and James Cosmo -- at Santa Cruz Kustom Club.
"The design goes from my ankle to just below my knees and I haven't really showed it off yet because until last week it was unfinished work," Hunter told the Daily Record. "I haven't been on holiday yet but I will be wearing shorts a lot when I do so people can see it."
The full piece took tattoo artist Chris Meighan more than 25 hours to ink on Hunter's leg. The tattoo cost more than $2,900.
"Paul came in and said how about doing a Mel Gibson portrait from Braveheart and it just really took off from there," Meighan said. "After he got that one he said we might as well make it a piece."
