Whoopi Goldberg: If a Woman Hits a Man, She Should Expect to Get Hit Back

Whoopi Goldberg turned heads on The View yesterday as she discussed Stephen A. Smith's apology following recent comments suggesting that women "provoked" being hit. "If you hit somebody, you cannot be sure you are not going to get hit back," said Goldberg. "You have to teach women; do not live with this idea that men have this chivalry thing still with them. Don't assume that's still in place. So don't be surprised if you hit a man and he hits you back."
Panelists on the show accused Goldberg of blaming the victim, to which she responded, "[This] is not blame the victim! I just said, don’t anybody hit anybody.”
“If you make the choice as a woman who is 4'3” and you decide to hit a guy who is 6 foot tall and you're the last thing you want he wants to deal with that day and he hits you back, you cannot be surprised.”
This isn't the first time Goldberg has stated her stance on this particular aspect of violence. She also made similar comments following the elevator incident involving Solange and Jay Z.
