EMENIKE WINS TURKISH SUPER CUP

Fenerbache parading Nigeria striker Emmanuel Emenike won the Turkish Super Cup Monday night after a 3-2 penalty shootout win over city rivals Galatasaray.

There were no goals in this prestige match between the league champions and cup winners even after extra time before the game was finally decided through a penalty shootout.

It was a tense match with as many as eight bookings including one for Emenike in the 58thminute.

Emenike had told AfricanFootball.com that he wishes to clinch the first trophy at stake in Turkey to set the tone for another successful season.

Last season, the Nigeria international fired 13 goals to help crown Fenerbache champions of Turkey again.

The new season in Turkey will begin this weekend with Fenerbache hosting Emenike’s former club Karabukspor on Sunday.
