Second Briton threatened with death by Islamic extremists

Second Briton threatened with death by Islamic extremists is named
A second British hostage who is now being threatened with death from Islamic extremists has been named as Alan Henning.
At the end of a video released by the Islamic State, which showed the beheading of British aid worker David Haines, the 47-year-old Mr Henning was shown in a desert location – clearly the captive of the same extremists responsible for the beheading deaths of Haines and two US journalists.
The masked extremist in the video – who has a British accent and is believed to be the infamous ‘Jihadi John’ executioner – warns that Mr Henning would be the next person to die after father-of-two Haines, 44.
It follows a sickening trend from the extremists of showing the next victim in a video of a beheading. Mr Haines was seen at the end of a video showing the killing of US journalist Steven Sotloff – and Sotlof was seen at the end of a video showing the killing of James Foley.
It is understood that Mr Henning, a former taxi driver originally from the Greater Manchester area, was kidnapped while travelling with a humanitarian aid convoy shortly after crossing into Syria from Turkey.
It was at first hoped that he would be released by the extremists because he was only in Syria to carry out aid work.
A picture of Mr Hanning holding a child as part of his humanitarian work was released by his family through the Home Office.

David Cameron and other world leaders have condemned the latest killing by the extremists, with Mr Cameron vowing to hunt down the killers ‘no matter how long it takes’.
